Author and journalist Britt Wray shares her new book Generation Dread with host Nahlah Ayed and discusses the emotional and psychological impacts of the climate crisis.
With the arrival and acceleration of the climate crisis the term 'eco-anxiety' has become a common self-diagnosis leading to burnout, avoidance, or a disturbance of daily functioning. Britt has been researching the emotional and psychological impacts of the climate crisis, and shares her findings in her new book Generation Dread: Finding Purpose in an Age of Climate Crisis. Combining scientific knowledge with emotional insight, she teaches us that to show how these intense feelings are a healthy response to the troubled state of the world. Generation Dread reminds us that we may not be on a level playing field when it comes to our vulnerability to the climate crisis, but as the situation worsens, we are all on the field.
